Surgery privatised

The surgery in Barnard Road has been taken over by a private Company, ChilversMcCrea, in co operation with the Chelmsford Primary Care Trust. The surgery which currently has about 700 patients was previously based in a one bedroom flat. It has now been extended to incorporate the premises next door and the PCT has spent more than £100,000 on improvements and refurbishing work. The firm now running the centre is planning to expand the practice by taking on more patients. The practice has a nurse practitioner who can issue prescriptions as well as a GP and practice nurse. The scheme is one of the first of its kind in the country.
