Silver Surfers event

Eight parishioners took an active interest in a special event staged at the Village Market in May. Three laptops were connected to the internet via a wireless network. A projector displayed a continuous slide-show of various websites, interspersed with a display of online TV and local radio programmes. Visitors were encouraged to talk about their concerns about computers and given the chance to try simple searches for themselves. For at least two visitors it was the first time they had touched a keyboard and they were amazed at the results produced when they typed their names into a search engine. Several people had only used their computers as word processors and were intrigued at the possibilities available. Downloading images from digital cameras proved to be another interesting subject. This two hour taster session was much appreciated by all who attended.
