Record Takings at the Carnival

A fine day encouraged a large turnout at the 11th Galleywood Carnival. Two bands, several majorette troupes and eight visiting carnival courts joined the procession which set off from The Common, touring the village to finish as usual at the fete at Wood Farm. Here the festivities were formally started by MP Simon Burns. A large number of stalls and sideshows enlivened the occasion, with the Horticultural Show tent being the main attraction. The proceedings were watched over by our Carnival Court of Tracy Swift, Sue Abbott and Clair Howe. Organiser, Jon Smee, announced that takings during the procession reached the record sum of £323.32.
