Neighbourhood Watch Scheme Set up

Local communities all over the country have been encouraged by the police to become involved in crime prevention by forming neighbourhood watch schemes to help counteract local crime and protect properties against vandalism and burglary. A large number of local people attended a meeting convened by the Parish Council, in association with the police, and a Galleywood Neighbourhood Watch scheme was set up.  P.C.Loveridge represented the police and Mr Gowing was appointed village co-ordinator. Numerous street co- ordinators were enrolled to administer the scheme throughout a wide area.
