A snapshot of life in the village
1987 - 2007

Ten stones were set up more than a hundred years ago to mark the parish boundaries and John Turkentine became convinced that such substantial pieces of masonry could not have disappeared without trace. The stones marked, of course, the boundaries of the ecclesiastical parish at the time. He set about the job of tracing them and his journey involved much crawling through brambles and scrub. Some stones were lost without trace and others have subsequently been replaced with cement replicas. Others were discovered in remarkably good condition and John presented an account of his searches to the Galleywood Historical Society.
