  Jamie Flies his Wheelchair
Dovedale Flyer Jamie Wood has proved that the sky is the limit when it comes to sport for the disabled. Jamie, 15, from Barnard Road, flew out to Florida on Monday to represent Britain at the world games for the disabled. Before he left Chelmsford to travel to the Games, he was given a rousing send-off by fellow members of the Dovedale Flyers club at Dovedale sports centre. Jamie is fighting fit and raring to go but has faced one disappointment - there will be no javelin competition in Florida for anyone under the age of 18, but he will compete in the discus, shot and the 100 metres wheelchair race. Jean Wyatt, manager of Dovedale Flyers, said, 'Jamie has made huge strides in disabled sport in Chelmsford, but it must be emphasised that most of the year is not spent in competition but having fun and getting fit at the same time.' There are hopes that more members of the Flyers will be able to take part in the next world games in Australia in two years' time.
