  Horticultural Jubilee
  The Horticultural Society is 75 years old this year. Chairman Ted Loxley says, however, that 'its salad days may be over. This sort of thing doesn’t appeal to youngsters today. It's mainly middle aged pensioners who keep it going.' Secretary Mrs Irene Randall looked back through the pages of their records from the 20s and 30s 'It was more of a village fair then, with all sorts of sports. They used to go on well into the evening. The marquee cost 15 shillings to hire in 1935 - now it is £206'
